What “Detox” Means To Us

Unpopular opinion, but I find it dangerous the way some skincare companies are throwing around the word “detox”. Detoxification and “detox” when referencing skincare should NOT be implied to be the medical detoxification process or any sort of cure-all for your skin issues. We promote certain products as being detoxifying here at Gingerly Snapped, however we use it in the correct context: the process of removing impurities, toxins, and buildup from the skin's surface. For us, it’s about pore-deep cleansing and improving the overall appearance and health of your skin.

In order to get a brighter, healthier complexion, it can be very helpful to remove dead skin cells, oil, dirt, and pollutants that can clog pores and sweat glands and lead to dullness or breakouts. You can achieve an overhaul of your skin needs and a healthy skin detox by:

✨ Using exfoliants, like sugar scrubs or loofah products, to remove dead skin cells and reveal brighter skin hiding beneath.
✨ Using soaps and other bath products with detoxifying ingredients, such as activated charcoal and bentonite clay, to cleanse away dirt and oil.
✨ Using clay facial masks enhanced with ingredients like tea tree oil or activated charcoal to draw out impurities from the pores.
